Unleash the artist within you and relive the life of Picasso and the bohemian Barcelona.

The route begins with an introduction to the life and work of the Malaga-born painter and his arrival in the Catalan city.

The Gothic Quarter holds much of Picasso’s life in Barcelona. You will stroll through its streets to discover where he had his studio, where he held his first exhibition, or to visit the street that inspired the famous painting “Les Demoiselles d’Avignon.”

A must-stop is the restaurant “Els 4 Gats,” where artists gathered to discuss life and art. You can admire replicas of famous paintings by Ramón Casas or choose your tapa and drink from the menu designed by Pablo Picasso himself.

Finally, you will pass through the doors of the Renaissance palaces on Calle Moncada and enter the Picasso Museum. Skipping the line and accompanied by your guide, you will have direct access to enjoy unique works that the painter himself wanted to be exhibited in Barcelona.

PICASSO MUSEUM
Situated in five original Catalan Gothic palaces dating back to the 13th and 14th centuries, the Picasso Museum opened its doors to the public in 1963, becoming an essential center to explore the artist’s formative years.

The museum is a clear demonstration of the close connection that the brilliant Malaga-born artist had with the city of Barcelona. The permanent collection encompasses a vast artistic heritage of more than 3,800 works from various periods of Picasso, the majority belonging to his formative and youthful stage. The Picasso Museum also presents visitors with the extraordinary series of “Las Meninas,” from the artist’s Blue Period, and an extensive program of temporary exhibitions that complement the permanent collection.

At the end of the visit, if you prefer, you can continue enjoying El Born and Santa Maria del Mar.

Accessibility
The building is accessible for individuals with reduced mobility. Those with reduced mobility or in wheelchairs do not have to wait in line and can go directly to the entrance ticket office located at number 23 Montcada Street (from Princesa Street, the farthest entrance door to the museum).
