A journey into the heart of timeless fashion, where you will discover unique and modern pieces crafted in Barcelona using artisanal methods and environmentally friendly materials.
This is an experience centered around slow fashion, where garments are often made to order, embodying a more responsible vision of fashion that prioritizes quality over quantity. You’ll have the opportunity to meet two Barcelona-based artisans, engage in conversations with them, and step into their ateliers – genuine spaces filled with details and beauty.
The route begins in the heart of Vía Layetana, a significant artery of Barcelona that serves as the boundary between the Sant Pere and the former Ribera district, now known as El Born. Undoubtedly, one of the most avant-garde neighborhoods and a reference in the city’s designer fashion scene.
Starting from De’l Ángel Square, near Jaume I metro station, we will embark on the journey along Princess Street, a broad thoroughfare with a certain stately and bourgeois character reminiscent of the mid-19th century. Despite its military origins as a quick troop access point to the city center, today, it shapes a lively commercial and tourist axis within the Ciutat Vella.
While discussing the charming details of the narrow streets along the route, we will delve into concepts such as slow and sustainable fashion, exploring why the shift towards more sustainable attire gains momentum each day.
Our first stop will introduce you to a shoemaking maestro, an artisan who advocates for handcrafted, personalized footwear using natural leathers and dyes. Oh, and his workshop is filled with magic, colors, and scents… you’ll love it!
We’ll continue with the magic, as within less than 100 meters, another charming boutique awaits. It’s the design atelier of a passionate creator who embraces noble and delicate fabrics, hand-sewn craftsmanship, and garments made with soul for an individual, a moment, and to withstand the test of time.
If you appreciate things made with love and enjoy the beauty of small details, don’t miss out on this route!
